For those of you who are looking for a discount cell phone plan without a contract or a credit check, the industry has what are called prepaid plans that will allow you to buy minutes as you go along rather than being obligated to a monthly contract and fee. There are upsides and downsides to this option but if you rarely use your phone or do not want the hassle of contracts or credit card payments, then prepaid may be the way for you to go.

    I just got a Nokia for my 17 year old daughter. It helps me keep the expenses down. She racked up a $300 texting bill on her mom’s cell phone one month and we said thats it. So now I buy her a reasonable amount of minutes and anything over she pays for.

    Yes! I agree Andy but it’s not for everyone ie. business users and the like.

    Prepaid is absolutely the way to go. I have a net 10 prepaid. The calls cost 10c a minute and there are no extra charges. This is much cheaper than the contract that I had
